McCoy Creek
Class V (P), 200fpm, ~200cfs (1500cfs Cispus at Randle)
May 4, 2003
Ben, John, Travis
Finally a reasonable flow. I'd prefer slightly higher but I think I've got the gauge nailed. 2000-2500cfs on the Cispus at Randle should be optimal.
Travis sneaking far left around the
Pothole rapid.
John running the 15-foot slide.
Travis running Chinook Falls, aka Backwards
and Upside Down.
John running a small ledge in the heart of
the canyon.
John opting for the assisted seal launch
byside the 28-foot falls. He hurt his ribs running the falls at lower flows and
felt it was still too bony.
Travis running the falls. The splash in
the cliff to his left is where John hurt his ribs at lower flows. Travis and I
found just enough water to avoid the cliff altogether.
The crease above the unrunnable waterfall.
We all portaged this drop.
Travis and John scouting the unrunnable
waterfall.
The unrunnable 45-foot waterfall. Don't
even think about it. The entrance is sketchier than the exit for those who are
wondering.
Travis running a slide below the
unrunnable waterfall.
