It's always a good idea to cut the slope before you ski it.

Just make sure you're on top of the slope before you cut it.
Buried below Panorama Point on Mount Rainier. All four of us got carried several hundred feet by this slab. Josh and I were able to dig ourselves out. Troy and Jason were helpless. We were skinning up less than an hour from Paradise when the slope around us broke. Josh lost one of his poles.
We'll learn.
Another slab avalanche several miles west of the Mount Baker ski resort. This one wasn't quite as big but it did carry us a couple hundred feet.
